About Me:
I am currently a fourth- year doctoral student in the Chemical Engineering department at University of Florida. I joined UF in 2013 right after graduating with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from University of Berkeley in California. A native to Florida, I decided to come back closer to home for graduate school. I became a part of team Asha within my first few weeks at UF and in the past few years I have built great friendships with so many of it’s members.
Running experience:
I have been doing some form of running or another since I can remember. First on rollerblades, then on tennis courts, and not to forget the ice skating rinks. I stumbled upon competitive running in my early teens during a cross-country run and I have tried to make it a part of my life ever since. As an undergraduate I was fortunate enough to find a running buddy who was willing to explore the mountains and challenge the terrains of Berkeley. Given the busy schedule that most undergraduate students have to balance, running became a form of surreal getaway for me. And I wasn’t ready to part with it once I left Berkeley. After learning about Team Asha at UF I knew I had found a way to not only continue pursuing my passion for running but to now channel it in an effort to improve the lives of those less fortunate than me. Having the opportunity to train with those who enjoy running just as much as I do makes this a far more fulfilling experience for me. Over the past year, I had to spend a lot of time recovering from a knee injury. This experience has made me appreciate the importance of running in my life even more and I am thrilled to be participating in races once again!
My request:
There are few who would contest the importance of education and yet there are so many children out there who are denied this opportunity. This is my attempt to help those children get the education they deserve and I hope you can aid me in my effort by donating to this cause. My goal is to raise $300 before the Gate River Run and though it might be ambitious, every small amount helps! Any donation small or big will be greatly appreciated not only by me but also those children whose lives you could change forever!
